     About Joanne Cantor
 

Joanne Cantor is an internationally recognized expert on the effects of the mass media on youth.  She presents lectures and workshops to a variety of audiences around the country, including parents, teachers, child care providers, college students, social workers, physicians, and other professional groups.   In addition to publishing more than 80 scholarly articles, she is the author of a parenting book, "Mommy, I'm Scared": How TV and Movies Frighten Children and What We Can Do to Protect Them.  She has also written a children's book, Teddy's TV Troubles.  Her research and advice frequently appear in the national media, and she has repeatedly testified before Congress on these issues.  She also conducts evaluation research.  For more information, see Brief Bio of Joanne Cantor.
